Tinnitus Management

Advice and support for people troubled by ringing, buzzing or other sounds in their ears.

About this service

Tinnitus is the experience of hearing sounds such as ringing, buzzing, humming, hissing or whistling when there is no external source. It can affect one or both ears, be continuous or intermittent, and vary considerably from person to person.

For some people, tinnitus is an occasional nuisance. For others, it can interfere with sleep, concentration, social activities and everyday wellbeing. When symptoms are particularly troublesome, they can also affect emotional health and quality of life.

Although there is currently no universal cure for tinnitus, there are approaches that can help people understand their symptoms, manage their reactions and improve their quality of life.

Understanding your tinnitus

At Earworx, we take time to listen to your concerns, discuss how tinnitus affects your daily life and consider whether earwax, changes in hearing or other ear-health issues may be relevant.

We provide straightforward explanations and practical guidance, helping you understand the options available. Where further investigation or specialist support is appropriate, we can advise you about seeking assessment from your GP, an audiologist or an ENT specialist.

Personalised tinnitus support

Drawing on her nursing background and experience in traditional and complementary healthcare, Cheryl offers an individual, supportive approach to tinnitus management.

Depending on your circumstances, complementary approaches available through Earworx may include:

  • Emotional Freedom Therapy (EFT)
  • Clinical hypnotherapy
  • Emmett Therapy
  • Relaxation therapy
  • Reiki

These approaches are offered to support relaxation, emotional wellbeing and coping with the effects of tinnitus. They are not established cures for tinnitus and do not replace appropriate medical assessment or evidence-based tinnitus treatment.

Our aim is to help you feel informed, listened to and supported as you explore ways of managing your symptoms.

Important medical advice

If tinnitus begins suddenly alongside sudden hearing loss, new neurological symptoms or severe dizziness, seek urgent medical advice rather than waiting for a routine Earworx appointment. Sudden hearing loss may require emergency assessment.

Taking the next step

Living with tinnitus can be difficult, but you do not have to face it without information and support. Contact Earworx to arrange your free initial tinnitus consultation and discuss the options available.

Questions about tinnitus management

Tinnitus is hearing a sound such as ringing, buzzing or hissing without an external source. It can be intermittent or continuous and affect one or both ears. Its impact varies greatly between people.
There is no single treatment that cures all tinnitus. Many people do find ways to reduce its impact through information, support and appropriate evidence-based care. We discuss your concerns and help you identify sensible next steps.
You can describe the sounds you hear, how long they have been present and how they affect sleep, concentration or wellbeing. We discuss relevant ear-health concerns, possible support and when assessment by your GP, an audiologist or an ENT specialist is appropriate.
No. Relaxation and other complementary approaches offered by Earworx may support wellbeing or coping, but they are not established tinnitus cures and should not replace appropriate assessment or evidence-based tinnitus treatment.
Seek urgent medical advice for tinnitus accompanied by sudden hearing loss, severe new dizziness or new neurological symptoms. Persistent tinnitus that pulses with your heartbeat, affects one ear only or is causing significant distress also deserves medical assessment.
The website currently lists a free initial consultation, individual sessions from £60 and small-group workshops at £40 per person. Please contact Earworx to confirm current availability, suitability and prices before booking.
